This according to an article in the online version of today’s Jamaica Observer, based on data from the 2007/8 Jamaica Health and Lifestyle Survey II released earlier this week.
The study in fact showed the following:
- The study included 887 Jamaican men
- 79 percent or 701 of these men had never had a physical exam for prostate cancer.
- Only 13 percent or 115 men reported having a physical examination of their prostate in the past 2 years.
- Having a rectal exam in the last year was more common among men with higher education.
- There didn’t appear to be a strong association between employment status and likelihood of having a physical exam for prostate cancer.
